  UL tested our schedule 5, 7 pipes with Shurjoint (Tyco) UL listed rubber gasketed coupling: K-9, 7705 and Recomb UL listed rubber gasketed coouplings XGQT1, XGQT2 by hydrostatic test, vibration test and bending moment test. The types of couplings we tested are just for customer's need.
  Standards and application   1. Meet UL 852, ASTM A135/795 and DIN EN 10255 requirement. 2. Meet NFPA 13 and 14 standards. 3. For wet, dry, preaction and deluge type sprinkler systems by UL&cUL certification. 4. Standard length: 21 feet or 6 meter. Can be ordered by customer length.
  Rated/Test pressure: 300/1,800 psi certified by UL, the same with schedule 10, 40 pipes. We are the only one in the world that 1"-4" schedule 5 pipes passed 1,800 psi hyfrostatic pressure tested by UL.
  Good pipe maintenance: sch 5 pipes with nitrogen system is the same with only sch 40 pipes in pipes maintenance.

  How do you think about this picture (before and after using nitrogen inerting)? It looks astonoshed. Your wet-type fire protection systems can prevent corrosion by getting rid of oxygen inside pipes by using FM approval ECS ejector automatic air vent or Wet Pipe Nitrogen Inerting (WPNI). FM also prove this (describe below).

  By this fact, you don't need to use thick wall pipes for corrosion reason. You can use our sch 5, 7 thin wall pipes.


  FM offer Corrosion Mitigation Strategies for fire protection system(PDF file, 5/98).

1. Oriental longitudinal pipe weld seam toward building roof - at lease 45 degree in relationship to the floor ( for reference, the weld line points at the floor at 0 degree) to mitigate pipe weld seam corrosion in the FPS.
2. Fill dry pipe or preaction system with nitrogen as supervisory gas (e.g., use on-site nitrogen generator) to mitigate galvanized steel pipe corrosion in dry type FPS.
3. Install an FM Approved air-venting device to remove trapped air in wet pipe system to mitigate pipe corrosion near air pockets.
4. Use treated water such as municipal water (i.e., avoid untrated raw water) as the source of sprinkler water for better water quality and less corrosion of FPS.


  Why FM's Corrosion Mitagation Strategies can prevent corrosion: (How getting rid of oxygen to prevent corrosion)

1. MIC aerobic bacteria need over 1 month to build MIC castle to hide MIC anaerobic bacteria.
2. In new installed wet type fire sprinkler system with air-venting device or WPNI, few oxygen left in fire sprinkler pipes and let MIC aerobic bacterial just survive few days. MIC aerobic bacteria will die and have no time to build MIC castle. Then all MIC aerobic and anaerobic bacteria will disappear in fire protection systems.
3. If not follow FM' suggestion, oxygen in trapped air can provide MIC aerobic bacteria survival over 1 month and have time to build MIC castle. MIC anaerobic bacteria can growth inside the castle. It will penetrate pipes 10 years later for sch 10 pipes or 15 years for sch 40 pipes. Building owner have to pay lot's of money to fix fire protection systems.

  FM approve the corrosion and leakage of a wet pipes systems cause by trapped air (oxygen source) inside the pipe ( Section 5.2, page 47 in attached file ). Minimizing air pockets like air release valve in wet pipe systems is recommended (Section 6.3, page 65 in attached file).
